Jukejoint Magazine

The flagship edition of a blues music magazine being published out of Portland Oregon, founders Jeremy Thatcher and Helen Jackson needed a visually striking cover and clean layouts for their articles to grab the attention of new readers and to entice them to buy their magazine off of the news stand rack.

Using the main article subject as influence, we created a compelling portrait of blues legend John Lee Hooker as the cover art, to entice people to pull the magazine from the shelf. Inside, articles were laid out with precision and a modern aesthetic to establish validity and authority amongst this fledgling magazines brand new readers.
